Dear subscribers,
I don’t usually post more than three times a week, and I never post twice a day. You know that. I don’t want to clutter your inboxes. But extraordinary times and extraordinary crises call for breaking the rules. So we are still holding this space for the people of Afghanistan.

Children on that plane will be among our next generation of American poets, artists, politicians, small business people, and scholars. We just don’t know who they are yet.
Please share with your friends: history is happening in front of our eyes.
