Now, You Can Call Her Lauren`Ho-bert
I think it would be cool to have a former sex worker in Congress. But not one who lies and grifts.
I will be honest with you: I was in the archives yesterday and decided to watch the video of the Thursday hearings over the weekend. But that gives me some time to discuss the significance of a new story about GOP criming. This is for subscribers only, but please:

Do you recall David B. Wheeler and Colonel Moe Davis, the founders of American Muckrakers PAC? Of course, you don’t. But they were the ones behind the drip-drip campaign of photographs and videos that showed soon-to-be former Representative Madison Cawthorn (NC-11) pursuing various homoerotic sex pranks unbecoming a congressman. More seriously, the group also accused Cawthorn of conveying undeclared gifts, money, and benefits to a staff member, which is a federal no-no.
Now Wheeler and Davis are going after another of the GOP’s most colorful MAGAs, Lauren Boebert (CO-3). Boebert is probably most famous for her resting bitch face, public rudeness, and doing her Zoom calls with a rack of automatic weapons in the background. But Boebert is also a staunch election denier, a Covid skeptic, rabidly pro-gun (the servers in her restaurant are encouraged to carry loaded sidearms), a homophobe, a transphobe, and a QAnon endorser. In 2017, her restaurant, Shooters (sounds like: Hooters!), was cited for operating food service without permits after 80 people contracted food poisoning from pork sliders they served at the county fair. During the J6 insurgency, she tweeted the location of Congress, including Leader Nancy Pelosi, to the insurgents.
Boebert is also a high school dropout (not that there is anything wrong with that), although she did take and pass the GED exam in 2020—the same year she was elected to Congress. Boebert is proof that although some people do fine without much formal education, others don’t. Her frequent misstatements of fact, and theological statements that contradict the Bible, probably put Boebert in the latter category, although being uneducated and a shameless liar are not mutually exclusive qualities. This week, speaking at a meeting of white evangelical Christians about the scourge of cancel culture, Boebert rambled: “Cancel culture has been here since the very beginning. Cain canceled Abel. And guess what, it wasn't with a big, scary AR-15. It was with a rock," she said. "So I don't think it's a firearm issue. I think it's a heart, a sin issue."
She has a point about heart and sin, but how many mass murderers have you seen go into a school, a church, or a synagogue with a big ol’ rock—or even a bag of rocks? None? And honestly? I think Eve was the first person to be canceled.
In any case, when Boebert was giving this speech, American Muckrakers PAC was launching its campaign against her on their new website, Fire Boebert. They have posted a press release that contains two charges—that she was a paid escort for SugarDaddyMeet.com and that she had two abortions. Boebert disputes everything and is said to be discussing possible legal action with her attorneys.
