Great article about bomb threats and a great bit of reporting that ATF was ordered to stop keeping stats on bomb threats. How long has a seditious conspiracy been going on? About Zucker's resignation, I wonder if it also had something to do with Discpvery's takeover of the company. Some reports I read earlier said Mr. Zucker would have a big role in the merged companies, but perhaps that thinking changed.

..."slightly" grim? Grim. Necessary, but grim.

This might be an important point to go outside the American frame a bit. I'm not sure it changes the "this was left, but not now" story dramatically but it does help us understand that bombing is a classic modern strategy for asymmetric attacks on "soft targets" (imagined as such or actually such) by people who feel they can't get at their real enemies or by people who imagine almost everyone as a real enemy. There's been some really good global (or non-American) histories of guns as a mass technology, but I'm not sure anyone has written a great global history of the non-military explosive device. (I'll have to poke around to see--it's possible I'm wrong and there's something just perfect on that subject.)
