A conversation with journalist Deanne Stillman about her new book, " American Confidential: Uncovering the Bizarre Story of Lee Harvey Oswald and His Mother."
This is a great piece. You know, back in the mid-1990s, when I decided to add a chapter on Bonnie and Clyde to my dissertation revision, I did research at the Dallas Public Library, and they directed me to the Dallas PD records division. I was escorted over by a police officer through underground tunnels, and at a certain point we were passing though a big space, and I had the weird feeling I had been there before. And the officer said: "This is where Oswald was shot." And of course, I had never been there, but I had seen it on TV as a kid.
Hi Janet: Mysteries of the internet! It has since been corrected (I sent a correction email)--you can go to the site and see the full thing:

Where is the rest of the beginning? It starts in the middle of a sentence.
