I have not given this excellent interview the time it deserve -- busy day at the office -- but I am struck by the important distinctions Amanda Demmer draws between Vietnam and Afghanistan, especially regarding the relative invisibility of the Afghan War -- until now. Given everything else in the world is hyper-visible, what can we make of this? What does it mean? That modern war is less photogenic? That Americans are so fed up with war that it no longer draws ratings? Or that there is and has been an organized conspiracy of sorts to keep our endless wars invisible with the aim of avoiding protest at home? I would love to know her -- and your -- take on this.
