As an aging man, I'm not in a hurry to underscore this too much, but honestly, I do wonder if Biden is entirely up to telling its better story in terms of what it can ask its central titular figure to do. I also don't think he's ever been a particularly strong figure in those terms--his strengths, such as they are, have been in building mostly-male relationships of affinity and trust with peers.

I also am not sure how much better the story can be when the people who would carry forth the story are not terribly invested in it being better. You can feel how much more comfortable the press is in the role of second-guessing a conventional Washington establishment than it was under Trump--even if that conventional role opens the door again to what they claim to have opposed.

Why say Progressives are always mad. What kind of narrative does that make? Republicans don’t attack their base so why are you like the mainstream media happy to do so. Without progressives aka Bernie the entire so-called Biden agenda that remains would not exist. The Democrats failure to seize the narrative always, and I mean always, includes failure to vigorously call out the dangers of the Right. By which I mean not the danger of lawless Trump but supposedly lawful “friends” like Obama’s friend John Boehner who gave us the Debt story when we needed infrastructure investment . And the same so-called centrists and Republicans who raise the alarm about inflation that is clearly a result of Pandemic while the economy is doing better than any other similar country. Obviously that is their plan to keep the Democrats from giving the people what they want. So yes Biden should toot his horn, but why attack those who are trying to push through the bill, who are insisting this is what will make working class Americans appreciate the Democrats. Seems like it just makes people think the Democrats aren’t really behind it (are they?) And why not try just once to keep the progressive base inspired instead of resented. See if that works to get the folks who did the whole ground game for them in PA GE and elsewhere out going house to house.

As for the topic, you are dead on the mark. The Biden Administration acts like the nerdy Class Secretary rather than the handsome Class President at your average 1970s, Grease-era high school. Competent, hard-working, sincere, boring, and bad a ringing its own bell. What to do? How about use the VP better? I mean, seriously, she has been out of the news practically since inauguration day. What's up with that? The first thing I heard about Harris in months was some piece in the NYTimes about her not being electable...the same old thing. I think they should hire YOU to be Psaki's ghost Press Secretary.
