Well it was Charles Blow who said he was not passionate and we must remember that things look very different in America when you’re Black. I was very disappointed jn Obama. He had a golden opportunity and blew it with his unconscious need to placate the forces of reaction. Biden learned a lesson and is much better. But the earth is burning and he could do much better. Yesterday I read that we are allowing Gas companies to build dozens of new installations to lock in shipments to Europe to prevent it going no-carbon. Where is the bully pulpit? Kerry? Private equities are destroying our health care system— where’s the government response. All these matters should be blasting from the Cabinet regardless of immediate success to prepare ground s for 2024. Instead Biden is picketing right. As to Hochul badly misjudging that is not an excuse—that’s called big failure as a politician . Because she’s a state hack who couldn’t care less about Congress only her own fiefdom. And it’s a reason to fire the state committee head not protect him. Also she’s blocking progressive decisions and made that cray stand in favor of a conservative anti-abortion judge.

This calm calling out of malarkey sure does seem to apply to older voters but not to young ones. Articles about young voters (see Charles Blow’s recent column) suggest Biden’s unwillingness to put up a passionate fight for what they care about could cause large numbers to stay home. It doesn’t apply to people who didn’t see him fight and declaim from the bully pulpit to keep extra food supplements and child care credit Introduced in pandemic. I think your position might reflect the suburban bias of the Democratic consultants. Don’t forget how many seats Hochul lost us with her complacency and lack of fervor.
