Whatever the Kenosha, Wisconsin jury ultimately decides, the American right's embrace of citizen violence, and the effects of their propaganda on boys, is far more troubling
You are far more charitable than I am. I was a self-absorbed douchebag at his age too! But guess what? Never, ever, ever did I commit any act of violence - not so much as a punch thrown in anger - against another human being. Kyle armed himself and sought out confrontation. I hope (against all evidence) that he gets what he deserves: a long prison sentence.
I am sure you didn't, but I knew high school boys who did: they fought, they lit things on fire, they stole and broke things. One was driving home drunk one night, crashed into a tree, and killed the girl he was with. To this day, all these women in their 60s drive past that spot and say: "Remember? That's where J---y G---n killed that girl." I think my point is that we are in a new world, where new things are available and being urged on boys, and it needs to be dealt with. Since banning guns is not going to happen any time soon, we need to address their proliferation.
Ms. Potter - that's a terrific piece! Might nose around www.firstofthemonth.org - Nathan Osborne's stuff in particular! http://www.firstofthemonth.org/author/nathan-osborne/ This one might ring your bell too http://www.firstofthemonth.org/true-vines-secrets-of-our-time/ Forgive if T.M.I.
So glad you liked it--and many thanks for the links.
One of your smartest pieces ever. Thank you and congratulations.
Thank you!
Interesting analysis and insights
Thanks!
Just a small correction: Adam Schiff is not "chair of the congressional committee investigating J6," that's Bennie Thompson.
Thank you! Corrected.
