I had the pleasure of listening to Nell, in person, at her book talk on "The History of White People" at the Yale Center for British Art in 2019. I agree with Nell's point that progressives must become more active in their local and state governments. Also not talked about enough is the role religion plays in our culture wars - so thank you Nell for highlighting that. I continue to be shocked by the lack of engagement with the problem of religion by the people who are most knowledgeable about this issue. Thanks for another great podcast Claire.
It's already on my shelf! I bought it in 2019 before her talk at Yale. I agree with you in that you could use this book as a central text for a global history course! Thank you again for highlighting Nell's book. It's exactly what we need right now -- everyone should read it or re-read it!
Would it be fair to say the white race educated the world while people in other countries were still living in a tribal existence. Everyone was a slave and one point in history, Christians were slaves and fed to the lions in Rome so were Jews and others. African kings sold their own people into slavery but no one talks about the. Or how bad they were. Now everyone what the blacks to get reparations but it’s to expensive. Should Rome give reparations to Christians what would that be a free pizza? The entire pretext of blaming everything on slavery is a false one. Get over it everyone else did.

So glad you like it, Caroline! It's a really absorbing book--I hope you get to it as some point. I would be interested to hear what you think.
